IDEA Member Spotlight

Each month this section briefly focuses on a few IDEA members who stand out in the crowd.

TISH ADAMSON • Member Since 2016 • Woods Cross, Utah

Tish Adamson

“Aren’t we lucky our bodies can do this?” So asks group fitness instructor and personal trainer Tish Adamson. It’s one of her favorite quotes, and it’s especially meaningful when you consider that she started her fitness journey by losing 100 pounds. She also has multiple sclerosis and two sons with a progressive neuromuscular disease. “My classes and clients have become a release for me. We inspire each other!” She has also been inspired by engaging in community service and attending the IDEA® World Convention. Tish loves the workouts she can create with “good ole Step Reebok®,” but her best advice is all about attitude. “Don’t take yourself so seriously! Stay educated and pay your dues. . . and have a little fun while you’re at it.”

YOAV AVIDAR • Member Since 1997 • Tel Aviv, Israel

Yoav Avidar

What does Inspire the World to Fitness® mean to Yoav Avidar? “This mission is the light leading my career,” he says. And that light shines brightly. Yoav is co-owner of Hagymnasia LTD, one of Israel’s leading schools for fitness certifications. “I love to teach,” he explains. “I work full-time as the CEO but [also teach] 7–8 hours of my favorite classes: dance aerobics, step, functional training, Pilates, core and mobility.” Although Yoav is a successful international presenter and made the shortlist for IDEA’s 2016 Fitness Instructor of the Year, he is still looking forward. “I try to inspire as many people as possible to live a healthy lifestyle. The journey is as important as the goal.”

CHERYL RAINVILLE • Member Since 2018 • Saint Helena, California

Cheryl Rainville

Cheryl Rainville is a teacher. She teaches fourth grade, incorporating fitness education with her students. She shares her wisdom as a life coach for Girls on the Run, a volunteer group that cultivates joy and confidence in young girls through running. And she teaches her clients—mostly aged 55 and older—to understand that they are never too old or out of shape to return to the activities they love. While she most enjoys the cardio and strength training variety of boot camps, you get the sense that she approaches every challenge with energy and happiness. “I try to inspire by example,” she says. And isn’t that what being a great teacher is all about?
