IDEA Releases Inspire the World to Fitness®, Honoring Industry Leaders Who Have Shaped the Profession
IDEA Health & Fitness Association is proud to announce the release of Inspire the World to Fitness®, a new multi-author book featuring ten internationally recognized fitness leaders whose careers have influenced education, research, business development, and professional standards across the global health and fitness industry. The book includes a foreword by Elaine “LaLa” LaLanne.
Originally introduced in 2003, Inspire the World to Fitness® became IDEA’s signature initiative and guiding call to action. More than a tagline, it represents a professional responsibility — a commitment to ethical leadership, lifelong learning, mentorship, and service-driven impact. This new publication brings that initiative to life through the lived experiences and professional journeys of IDEA award recipients and industry trailblazers.
Contributing authors include Amy Boone Thompson; Dr. Len Kravitz; Carla Botelho Sottovia, PhD; Sherri McMillan, M.Sc.; Leslee Bender; Rick Richey, PhD; Ingrid Knight-Cohee, M.Sc.; Ruben P. Thickstun; Ellen de Werd; and Desiree Bartlett, EdD. Collectively, they represent decades of leadership across academia, active aging, group fitness, personal training, business ownership, and professional development.
Each chapter reflects IDEA’s long-standing mission: to elevate fitness professionals and expand access to education, connection, and credibility worldwide. Through personal stories and professional insight, the authors examine the evolution of the industry while reinforcing the essential role fitness professionals play in advancing global health and well-being.
Inspire the World to Fitness® is intended for professionals at every stage of their careers, as well as industry stakeholders and enthusiasts committed to raising standards and expanding impact through movement.
The book is available now on Amazon.
