IDEA Member Spotlight: October 2019
Each month this section briefly focuses on a few idea members who stand out in the crowd.
Ammar Zoubi
Member Since 2017 • Naim Village, Israel
Ammar Zoubi says he lives “on the other side of the world,” but his story really hits home. After years as a bodybuilder, he became a certified personal trainer, eventually getting hired at the gym where he was a member. Three years ago, he started his own business, focusing on sports medicine and body alignment and stressing the importance of “spending more time on education and assessment than on new exercise . . . using what’s right for the client, not what’s in fashion.” Now, Zoubi is bringing others together to help train the youth in his community. He’s willing to travel the globe, as well, having attended the IDEA® World Convention this summer. “Watching all those fitness experts introduce themselves and [share] the latest research—that is the most inspiring!”
E. Faith Bell
Member Since 2013 • King George, Virginia
Fit pros often tell clients to have faith in their abilities; E. Faith Bell takes that to the next level. Her resumé is impressive: wife, mother, ordained clergy, college professor and certified fitness professional. Through it all, good health has “always been a passion,” she says, but it wasn’t until she retired from 36 years as a senior executive at the IRS that her true calling shone through. After hearing a sermon on getting a “second wind,” she took a deep breath and started Fit with Faith, training 50 people a week in group and personal sessions and offering free community classes. “In ministry, care for people is important. Fit with Faith was developed to help the total person.” Her advice? “Never stop learning, never stop growing, never stop being passionate about the journey.” And always have Faith.
Kelly Hafer
Member Since 2019 • Westminster, Colorado
“Magical and awesome.” That’s how one of Kelly Hafer’s group fitness participants described her classes. “She’s from Armenia and in my Silver Sneakers classes,” says Hafer. “[She wrote that] I saved her life. I feel very honored to have impacted someone in that way.” Hafer herself had a magic moment when she began attending a gym near her home. “I fell in love with the classes [and] wanted to help others feel the way these instructors made me feel.” She keeps the love alive by supporting her fellow instructors with the same passion she provides her participants. “I’m a huge team player,” she says. “We should be helping, supporting and uplifting each other,” adding that her satisfaction comes from “igniting a spark in someone they may have never known existed.”
