Nutrigeroscience is a form of precision-based nutrition science in which the outcomes of various types of dietary restriction are predicted based on biomarkers affected by genetics, gender, bodily tissue and age.

Scientists in this field hope that, in the future, this will allow us to better determine who will fair favourably and unfavourably to different forms of dietary restrictions such as low-carb, low-fat and intermittent fasting. The end goal would be not to just add years to lifespans but years with less ill health.

The benefits of dietary restriction often vary among individuals and even in tissues within those people. Nutrigeroscience could do away with the “one-size-fits-all” intervention approach when it comes to dieting.
