Agriculture Revenue

If you are a farmer, you make 7 cents on the dollar for the food you are producing, according to statistics released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture on agriculture revenue.

The real bucks are made in processing, retail and food service—considered “added-value” parts of the food system. In stark contrast, the food services share of the dollar is nearly 34%. Clearly, one could argue that farmers are not getting their fair share of the pie.
