The Franklin Method®, a form of mind-body movement that relies heavily on the use of imagery, is growing in popularity among a wide variety of health, fitness and bodywork professionals. The Franklin Method focuses on using imagery to increase mental engagement and ease of movement, on experiential anatomy (based on how bones actually move during physical activity) and on the use of touch to increase awareness. Props used include elastic resistance bands and balls.
Eric Franklin—founder of the Franklin Method Institute, located in Switzerland—is a dancer, an educator, a university lecturer and an author. His books include Dynamic Alignment Through Imagery (Human Kinetics 1996) and Pelvic Power for Men and Women (Princeton Book Company 2003).
