IDEA Inducted Into National Fitness Hall of Fame


IDEA Health & Fitness Association, as the leading membership organization for health, wellness and fitness professionals worldwide, was inducted into the National Fitness Hall of Fame on March 15.

In receiving this prestigious award, IDEA joined the likes of Jack LaLanne, Kathy Smith, Gilad Janklowicz, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Tony Little, Joe Weider, Kenneth Cooper, MD, MPH, and other top industry professionals.

Inductees were chosen for their dedicated service to others and for exceeding the mission of helping millions of people get fit, stay in shape and live healthy, happy and productive lives. This year’s event featured special guests and past honorees Bob Goldman, MD, PhD, and Tamilee Webb, as well as other sports and fitness celebrities, who helped induct the following people (in their respective categories) into the hall of fame.

  • Pioneers: Joe Bonomo and Jim Lorimer
  • Educators: Paul Bernstein and Jan Todd, PhD
  • Instructors: Nancy Claussen and John Hansen
  • Sports Medicine Specialists: Philip E. Claussen, DC, and Nicholas A. DiNubile, MD
  • Celebrity Spokesperson: Bob Richards
  • Organization: IDEA Health & Fitness Association

Accepting the honor on IDEA’s behalf was Nicki Anderson, 2008 IDEA Personal Trainer of the Year, who is shown above with past honorees Tamilee Webb and Gilad Janklowicz. “I am grateful to accept this award on behalf of the 23,000 IDEA Health & Fitness Association members in 85 countries who are influencing 25 million people every year,” Anderson said.
