National Health and Wellness Coaching Cert Launches in 2017

Earlier this year, the National Consortium for Credentialing Health & Wellness Coaches (NCCHWC) and the National Board of Medical Examiners signed an agreement to launch a national individual health and wellness coach certification. The goal of the certification will be to implement and promote high standards and continuous improvement among those involved in the profession.

According to Margaret Moore, MBA, co-founder of NCCHWC and founder and CEO of Wellcoaches® Corporation, this is a significant step forward for the growing industry.

“The first health and wellness coach training and education curriculum launched in 2002 as
a collaboration between Wellcoaches Corporation and the American College of Sports Medicine,” Moore explains. “This event created a path for well-trained fitness professionals to lead the new profession of health and wellness coaches. Fourteen years later, a partnership between the most prestigious organization in the assessment of health professionals—the National Board of Medical Examiners, which has licensed physicians for 100 years—and the National Consortium for Credentialing Health & Wellness Coaches, is delivering the first national certification worldwide for health and wellness coaches, supported by a national standard for training and education.”

Moore believes this certification will allow wellness coaches to further enhance their skills and education, while also providing them with an array of career possibilities in all health-related sectors.
