In the October and November–December issues, Jacki Sorensen’s name was misspelled. We apologize to Jacki and our readers.
In the November–December Research column, we inadvertently omitted the subhead “Negative Risk Factor” from Table 2 on page 21. Without the subhead, the table indicated that HDL ≥60 mg/dl is a risk factor for CAD, when actually it’s a factor that negates the risk. We regret the error.
The correct table is below.

Articles That Stand Out
[Author Rosalind Gray Davis] has done it again—an article (“GYROKINESIS® Exercise,” September, pp. 105–108) even better than her previous piece (“The Gyrotonic® and Gyrokinesis System: A Primer,” October 2005, pp. 109–13). Over the years, I have read so many articles on the Gyrotonic Expansion System®, but the two [Davis has written] are truly the first that really do justice to the work. Furthermore, her lovely style of writing makes the reader want to follow [the information] to the end, and thus, the truth goes down easily and well.

I just read the Master Class column in the September issue about Carol Murphy, our trainer/wellness model/choreographer/friend/inspiration/class instructor/fitness resource. It was very well written and inspires even the lay person. I am the 59-year-old woman she mentions as following her recipe for health and energy enhancement. “Ditto” on all the kudos you have given her and congratulations to Carol who has persevered to help make our new YMCA outstanding in the health field!

Inner IDEA Conference® Comments
Thank you for taking a chance and creating the Inner IDEA Conference! I greatly appreciate this new forum offered by IDEA that allows professionals to explore wellness in a truly holistic fashion. You have created an environment that fosters a healthy way of “being” for movement professionals and, eventually, their clients.
Highlights of this conference for me included
- the warmth of the conference attendees and their deep desire to enhance the wellness of others (and their own);
- the facility and the extraordinarily friendly staff, the beautiful rooms, the comfortable beds, the healthy food and the gorgeous grounds;
- the breadth of presentations;
- the opening ceremonies (Marcia [Hayes] is such a gentle soul and an incredible facilitator, and Pamela Peeke’s keynote was the perfect spark to start things off); and
- the perfectly organized event (I know I can count on everything running smoothly) and the helpful volunteer staff.
It was pure joy presenting at and attending this conference. Thank you so much.

It’s been nearly a week since I arrived home from La Quinta, and I feel as if I’m still floating on air! From the first moment to the last, Inner IDEA was, once again, truly transformative.
For me, as a first-time presenter at an IDEA event, this conference was not only a dream come true but also an incredibly positive learning experience.
I want to sincerely thank you all for opening up this conference to new presenters and for giving me the opportunity to contribute and participate. The participants, the staff and the support team all made me feel instantly at home, centered and eager to do my very best work. I hope that I provided a meaningful experience for those who attended my sessions, and I welcome any feedback.
Again, thank you—this was definitely a highlight of 2007 for me.

As I step back and review the week I had attending Inner IDEA, I am still amazed at what I discovered not only around me, but within myself.
Like I said earlier in my scholarship letter, when I read the pamphlet I knew I needed to attend. I felt a complete, definitive draw to be there in 2007. I not only learned so much from the presenters, but I watched and met some amazing people.
As a business owner and national speaker, I was very impressed with the way Inner IDEA was executed. I felt such a powerful energy there. The presenters and topics were great. The location and ambiance matched what we as attendees were searching for—education with mindfulness. But what caught my attention was the generous and humbling way IDEA staff conducted themselves. I was first moved by the kindness showed to me and to others in offering a scholarship. What a magical way of reaching out. If it wasn’t for your generosity, I might not have attended Inner IDEA when I did. I know that the peace I gained from turning inward and the knowledge I gained are already making an impact on my clients and my family. I have learned so much and will practice it daily and share it with all those I come in contact with.
