Hydration Is More Individual Than Expected

Hydration during exercise

Hydration guidelines often provide general recommendations, but individual needs can vary significantly. Sweat rate, climate, body size and exercise intensity all influence fluid requirements. As a result, fixed intake targets may not be appropriate for every client.

Practical strategies such as monitoring body weight changes, urine color and thirst can help individuals adjust intake more effectively. This approach allows hydration to be tailored rather than standardized. Coaches may find that flexibility leads to better outcomes than rigid guidelines.
