Put Your Best Fork Forward
Prepare to put some laser focus on client nutrition next month. Every March, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) organizes National Nutrition Month®, an education and information campaign that focuses attention on the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits.
This year’s theme, “Put Your Best Fork Forward,” is meant to remind us that every bite counts. A strong body of evidence has shown that making simple, small shifts in our food choices can gradually add up to success. Perhaps this is the time to suggest that clients focus on changing just one small habit (e.g., add an extra serving of vegetables each day; eat whole fruit instead of drinking juice; hydrate with water instead of a sugar-sweetened beverage).
