College Vows to Create Healthiest Campus

The “Freshman 15” has a new enemy: Oklahoma State University.

According to a university press release, the school has made it a mission to improve the health of its students, staff and faculty members. The entire campus is involved—from dining to fitness facilities to the physical and mental health departments. These units have worked together to develop programs that promote physical fitness, healthy eating, emotional health, smoking cessation and financial health.

“Oklahoma State University is crossing a new threshold of promoting wellness activities among our students, faculty, staff and community,” explained OSU First Lady Ann Hargis in a letter. “The goal of a system-wide, interactive and comprehensive wellness program at Oklahoma State University began over two decades ago and accelerated in 2006 when OSU launched a bold campaign called ‘Striving to Be America’s Healthiest Campus.’ Today we are on the cusp of making that goal a reality.”
