What is the greatest barrier to obesity prevention?
Hi Allison,
I’ll take a stab at that & say the major food manufacturers. Their job is to make sure that they stock grocery stores with foods that will fly off the shelves – processed, crappy and addictive food products that people will consume regularly, making them fat & sick. So it’s basically a consumer education issue. That was the first thing that came to mind – I’m sure the room will come up with more.

Hi Allison,
healthy food is more expensive food. Fast food provides more calories per dollar. Ironically, farm subsidies indirectly help the fast food industry so they can offer their “food” cheaper than a local farmer can.

Convenience. We live in a society that holds convenience as a high priority. But unfortunately health and convenience are two different issues and people have to come to that realization.
Being healthy and fighting obesity means to take the route of planning and not living highly convenient lifestyle.
