I am an independent trainer in Va,I am interested in starting a boot camp, I have great ideas for the camp but
Good morning Angie,
Some things that I have done in the past to promote boot camp/personal training is setting up a booth in your local Vitamin Shoppe (or other health/fitness store), promoting your services.
Social media might be one of the easiest was to promote using Instagram or Face Book.
You can promote the boot camp at local public schools (to teachers) or other local businesses.
You can try to partner with the local parks and rec department offering boot camp. This can also be helpful in the case of bad weather (can offer an indoor location in case of rain).
In terms of pricing, I find that selling a monthly package is easier and less stressful then doing a per session price. You can offer 4 session (1x a weekend for $65/month) and “unlimited” for $110 per month.
Hope this helps, good luck!
I have 2 outdoor bootcamps
I run them differently / one is a drop in but I must have 5 people in order to have it, I charge $15 per class.
The other is a 6 week bootcamp/we offer 1,2, or 3 times a week.
Check out my website at
We have 32 people in it this time
If you are going to have the class at a rec center, you should ask them if they can include the class into their weekly/monthly newsletter. This way you can reach pretty much everyone within that community. As for pricing, you will need to check the going rate there and other competitors and then come up with a similar or better pricing. A flat rate would be more appropriate especially if you are going to offer the class only during the weekends. I. hope this helps
Are you offering one session on Saturday and one on Sunday? Or more? If you are offering sessions on just Saturday and/or Sunday, you can promote it as cross training boot camp to supplement an existing fitness program. You can also use it as an add on for your fitness programs, discount it for participants that you are working with already or as an incentive to work with you privately.
As to cost, it really depends on your market. But you can also start a bit lower (giving clients that sign up right away a low rate for 6 months or so) and then increase the price when you are making a decent amout on each session for new students. The entry price students know up front that the rate will rise at the end of the first six months, so you won’t be surprising them with an increase later. If I were just starting out on my own, I would charge $5 per session for the people that sign up in the first 2 weeks or so, and then have the rate go up to $8 or $10 per session after the initial sign up period.
I wish you great success. Check out my website sometime if you get the chance. You never know when you might be coming to the Big Island and want to network or take some CECs to write off a sweet vacation. www.hawaiifitnessacademy.com
