The heart beats over 100,000 times per day, pumping about 1.5 gallons of blood a minute. There’s no doubt that it’s the hardest working muscle in the body, and improved heart health should be the core of every good program, class or coaching session. February is American Heart Month, the perfect time to educate clients and participants about research findings that will help them avoid or manage heart disease.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, where one person dies every 34 seconds from cardiovascular complications. In 2020, about 697,000 people in the United States died from heart disease — one in five deaths.
