Would you consider “Aerobic Classes” as a dated term?
Every now and then I run across a facility or two that still refers to group fitness or group exercise classes as, “Aerobics Classes”. With the growing trends in the fitness industry ( boot camps, HIT classes, and cross fit) becoming all the craze. Do you think that using the term, Aerobic hinders a group exercise program?
Hi Serena,
Aerobic Classes?
I haven’t heard that term since the 80’s!
The term is probably oudated because it’s very vague (spin classes could be seen as aerobic classes).
The term ‘aerobic’ isn’t outdated (especially in the clinical field) but as far as the general public is concerned the term ‘aerobic classes’ is as dated as an Atari 2600!
FITNESS CLASS covers the whole gambit of names and allows you to in- corperate what ever type of class you teach and you can change at will, the direction without changing the name. Group fitness is making a come back and being able to adjust and add new things with out branding the class is maybe a better wayto go.
Maybe for the younger crowd. But the baby boomers love it!
