The upright is contraindicated because biomechanically and anatomically it compromises
the AC joint. When at the top of the exercise, the humerus is elevated and literally against the AC
while in an internal rotation position.
The shoulder press is also contraindicated because of the compresses the AC, suprapinatus and loads the subacromial joint.
