How can I get certified as a group fitness instructor?
Hi Sandra,
the best thing will be to visit the career guide here at this web site http://www.ideafit.com/certifications/group-fitness where many organizations have information.
Please keep in mind that some clubs require that you have a certification from a narrow range of organizations. So if you have a potential employer in mind, check with them first so that you head in the right direction from the start.
I wish you good luck.
Hi Sandra. In addition to the answer above, you can also look at individual certifying agencies that offer group exercise instructor certifications. As around locally (e.g. local gyms and/or group exercise instructors) what certifications they hold or hire from, and this will help you in deciding which organization to go with if finding a job in group exercise is your ultimate goal.
By contacting or searching these organizations directly, you will also be able to discover which ones offer online versus in-person course work. In my opinion, if this is your first certification, I would highly recommend doing it through an in-person course since developing the necessary hands-on skills is vitally important in this industry.
I hope that this helps.

You should first decide which certification you would like to take and then the choices are much easier. It all depends on what type of classes or clients you would like to teach and train. There are so many certifications out there, so you need to be careful when choosing one and be sure you have done your research well when deciding on the certification you would like to have.
