Do you have a target for attendance in your group fitness classes?
We are trying to benchmark other facilities in regards to their “target utilization” for classes. Currently, if classes are not at 30% utilization based on the maximum number of students allowed, we strongly consider cutting them. Does anyone else have similar practices? If so – what is your target utilization. Thank you!
As a studio owner, knowing your costs/overhead are important in setting this goal. Based on complete income/expenses, we find our breakeven point then go from there. If 7 attendees are our breakeven point and we are hitting this with a new class, we give it some time to take off. After 4-6 weeks we re-evaluate and possibly change the time/date or format all together or push forward as it continues to grow.
Hope this helps…
