Can any adult sign a waiver form for a teenager to take a fitness class or does it have to be the parent?
Just curious if anyone knows if there are any legal ramifications if a parent of a child is unavailable and another adult signs for a child to take a fitness class? Do you have any references of legal waivers to use? The kid is 15 but I am curious as to what age (if any) this could start to be an issue.
Hi Jessa,
forms like that have to be signed by a parent or legal guardian. Once a teenager is 18, they can waive anything they want. Until then, I would NOT let them participate without correct documentation.
In today’s electronic age, it should be possible to get the documentation without too much delay.
