Laura Acosta, MS, RD, is a nationally recognized expert in health and fitness. She holds a master's degree in nutrition from the University of Florida and has earned the prestigious title of board certified specialist in sports dietetics (CSSD). In 2008, Laura opened LifeStyle Wellness, and in 5 years, she built the company from a one-woman business to a staff of over 20 fitness professionals and hundreds of clients. Currently, Laura is a full-time faculty member with the food science and human nutrition department at the University of Florida. Certifications: ACE, AFAA
Ken Alan was a presenter at the very first IDEA convention and his career as a teacher, mentor, author and presenter is well documented. Ken has served on the ACE personal trainer and group fitness instructor certification committees, he is a chapter author for ACSM and AFAA certification manuals, and he is the co-star of Time Life’s Medical Patient Education Media exercise video series. Ken was also the program designer and choreographer for seven Richard Simmons videos and a former IDEA Instructor of the Year award recipient. Currently, Ken is a lecturer in the department of kinesiology at California State University Fullerton.
Kari Anderson, owner of The Seattle Gym, has been an international fitness presenter since 1987. She is the producer and star of over 25 award-winning exercise videos and holds a degree in exercise science from Seattle Pacific University. Kari is the recipient of several prestigious industry awards including IDEA Business Person of the Year 1993, IDEA Instructor of the Year 1994 and ACE Fitness Director of the Year 2003. Additionally, Kari was a junior national gold medalist in synchronized swimming and a former scholarship student at the Joffrey Ballet School in New York. Certifications: ACE
Luke Andrus is the director of personal training for five Anytime Fitness clubs in South Louisiana. His love for fitness began while training his way through a history degree at ULL, where his passion for writing fiction quickly turned to motivating others through fitness. In addition to his own blog, Luke writes for anytimefitness.com and has stood out as one of the most well known personal trainers of the Anytime Fitness franchise. He has been heavily involved in several of their pilot programs, consulted with many other clubs around the nation, and was recently recognized as the 2014 Anytime Fitness Trainer of the Year. Shirley Archer, JD, MA, is the 2008 IDEA Fitness Instructor of the Year and is IDEA's mind-body-spirit spokesperson. She is an award-winning author who has written more than 15 titles and is also as a certified yoga and Pilates teacher. Julz Arney is an award-winning trainer of trainers, a choreographer and star of consumer dance-fitness DVDs, a program creator for club chains and professional brands, and a leader of the industry's top master trainer teams. She is the program director and a master trainer for ShockWave and Indo-Row®, and is a member of the BOSU® presenter and development team. She teaches regularly for Equinox® and 24 Hour Fitness. is the founder of Fluidity® and a former Lotte Berk Method® instructor who trained with Lotte Berk in London. Michelle combines her rich history in barre and passion for teaching with a background in kinesiology and therapeutic movement to create the Fluidity Instructor Training (FIT) Program. Josh Beaudoin is the lead instructor for Slackline Industries, and has taught the benefits of slacklining to more than 50,000 students over a 6 year period. He works with professional athletes utilizing the cross-training benefits to improve sport performance, most notably, the 2014 Sochi Olympic men’s halfpipe Gold gold medalist, David Wise. Although slacklining is a relatively new sport, Josh’s unparalleled passion and knowledge for the sport has made him a well -respected leader in the fitness community, where he has been instrumental in crafting the guidelines and support materials to introduce this unique activity to fitness professionals and enthusiasts alike.
Marcie Benavides is a Zumba® education specialist for Zumba Fitness® and a certified personal trainer and group exercise instructor. Brook Benten, MEd, is president of Cardiopump™ Fitness, LLC and an advisory board member for Hyperwear®, GoFit, and Power Music®. Brook was also a 2012 finalist for PFP Personal Trainer of the Year, and has contributed content for Prevention, Livestrong.com and the Associated Press. is the director of programming for BOSU® and RealRyder® Indoor Cycling, an ex-Ironman® triathlete, and is currently the director of athlete conditioning for Sugar Bowl Ski Academy. is the chief science officer at the American Council on Exercise®. He represents ACE as a national and international lecturer, writer and expert source. Lee Burton, PhD, is currently the president and co-owner of Functional Movement Systems, a consulting and education organization that focuses on a systematic approach to injury prevention and exercise programming. He holds a bachelor’s degree in athletic training, a master’s degree in education and a doctorate in health promotion and wellness. Lee is an internationally recognized speaker focusing on human movement and performance enhancement. Brent Callaway is the international performance director for EXOS, where he oversees the performance staff for the US National soccer team, the Chinese Olympic Committee, the Los Angeles Galaxy, and a host of other organizations around the world. With 12 years experience in human performance, strength, speed and multidirectional training, Brent coaches athletes on the intricacies of human movement across a broad spectrum of sports. Kathy Corey is the director of Kathy Corey Pilates and the developer of the Core Band™, which is used in studios around the world. Rachel Cosgrove, 2012 IDEA Personal Trainer of the Year, co-owns and operates Results Fitness, located in Southern California and open since 2000. She lectures nationally and internationally on topics such as strength training, fat loss, business and nutrition. Kathryn Coyle is a Peak Pilates® senior master instructor and mentor with over 15 years of experience teaching mind-body movement for prehabilitation, rehabilitation and performance enhancement. As the Pilates coordinator at Life Time Athletic℠ in Reston, Virginia, Kathryn manages one of the top three Pilates studios in the company. She has been featured multiple times in Pilates Style and has written articles for several magazines on Pilates. Marcus Davis is a former United States Boxing Federation and United States Kickboxing Association and MMA champion. He is the owner of three mixed martial arts fitness facilities and trainer to hundreds of former and current MMA fighters. Marcus holds a black belt in Choishindo, is an apprentice instructor in Jeet Kune Do, and holds an advanced mongkol rating in Muay Thai. Marco Della Torre
Marco Della Torre is a serial entrepreneur and, most recently, the engineering co-founder of Basis Science, which was acquired by Intel in 2014. Basis is the company behind Peak, the most advanced health and fitness tracker on the market today. Along with his background in biomedical engineering, he now brings a range of wearables, sensors and fitness expertise to Intel’s new devices group, where he is focused on both business development and advanced research. Marco is the inventor of a wide range of technologies across cognitive neuroscience, artificial intelligence, fitness technology and beyond, many of which he used to power successful startups and launch as the core technology inside a variety of consumer products globally.
Emily Desmond’s background in dance led her to explore yoga, which healed her chronic back pain and helped her build a more mindful relationship with her physical body. Emily completed Core Power Yoga’s 200-hour teacher training in 2007 and has continued to seek additional training from leading yoga instructors nationwide. Emily holds a master’s degree in counseling and has been trained to utilize yoga as a medium to heal trauma, stress, anxiety and depression. Emily seeks to create a joyful, accepting and balanced experience for her students and believes in the power of yoga to make the world a better place, one inhale and one exhale at a time.
Christopher Digby, with his wife Marena, is a co-owner of Positive Action Pilates and The Pilates Company in Melbourne, Australia. He has trained in the Pilates method within Australia and alongside first and second generation teachers in the U.S. Through his involvement with industry committees he has helped to develop Pilates training for fitness professionals in Australia.
Marena Digby, with her husband Christopher, is a co-owner of Positive Action Pilates and The Pilates Company in Melbourne, Australia. Also a remedial massage therapist, Marena is regarded as a Pilates expert in the fitness industry and is involved in developing Pilates programs. Marena is also a published author, featured on several Pilates DVDs, and is regularly invited to share her knowledge and passion as a presenter.
Amy Dixon is a dynamic fitness instructor and celebrity trainer. She is a master trainer for FitnessGlo®, Gatorade®, Schwinn® Cycling, BOSU® and ShockWave, and she promotes health and fitness through her role as spokesperson for Avon’s breast cancer walks and Reebok’s Global Walking Partner. Amy is a west coast cycling master trainer at Equinox® and director of THE Force at Vimmia™. Denise Druce, MPH, has been inspiring people to live healthier and happier lives from the moment she donned leg warmers and taught her first class in 1981. She is an instructor for the Utah Jazz and athletes at the University of Utah, and is the owner/creator of Yoga Assets Teacher Training Systems, a turn-key yoga teacher training curriculum. Lisa Druxman, MA, is a fitness expert, author and mompreneur. She is the founder of FIT4MOM®, the company that defined fitness for motherhood. Lauren Eirk, MS, owns and operates Yoga I.S.®, a yoga, fitness and wellness studio in Louisville, Kentucky. She is a certified E-RYT 500-level yoga instructor with over 25 years of teaching experience, and is the owner and creator of the internationally recognized, biomechanically-based registered yoga teacher training school Yoga Integrated Science®, which offers 200-hour and 500+-hour yoga coursework. Lauren is a Muscle Activation Techniques® certified specialist at the mastery level, a MAT® Jumpstart instructor, a mastery level Resistance Training Specialist® and a certified personal trainer. Shannon is a 17-year fitness veteran, freelance writer, and international presenter for Schwinn® and BOSU®. Chris Frankel is a PhD candidate and has been a coach, trainer and educator for more than 30 years. He has trained and consulted for collegiate and professional sports teams, the U.S. Navy SEALs, the U.S. Marine Corps, the U.S. Army and the U.S. Secret Service. Before taking the role as head of human performance for TRX®, Chris was the instructor of record for undergraduate and graduate courses in the department of health, exercise and sports science at the University of New Mexico.
