As part of the President’s Challenge, the Active Network Inc., has pledged to encourage 100,000 individuals to participate in the Presidential Active Lifestyle Award (PALA) by September. The PALA is a nationwide program designed to inspire as many families as possible to improve their physical activity levels and to fight obesity. The Active Network has recently launched a newer version of its Active.com Trainer program, where individuals can log in and share their progress.
“We believe Active Network can play an important role in combating the nation’s obesity epidemic by fostering active and healthy living,” said Dave Alberga, chief executive officer of the Active Network Inc. “According to some studies, roughly two-thirds of U.S. citizens are either overweight or obese. These statistics are staggering, and any help we can provide in mitigating this national health crisis is an effort worth making.”
