Many approaches we use to help people change their behavior are outdated, simplistic and just plain ineffective. The truth is, common strategies like habit formation don’t work—especially for the less active individuals we hope to help. Sustainable-behavior-change researcher, lifestyle coach, fitness industry thought leader Michelle Segar has devoted almost three decades to the study of how to help people convert exercise from a chore into a gift and develop a desire to stick with it. Based on her forthcoming book, The Joy Choice: How to Finally Achieve Lasting Changes in Eating and Exercise, this provocative presentation explains why our traditional change strategies and approaches don’t work and reveals new science-based and easy-to-use messages and methods that will.
