Falls are a serious threat to older adults and often lead to hip fracture, traumatic brain injury, disability, nursing home admission and even death. With the growth of the aging population, fall prevalence is expected to increase, making balance training a high priority for this population. In this session, we will explore the key risk factors for falls, evidence-based fall prevention strategies and corrective exercises for those with specific deficits. Attention will be given to clients at high risk of, or with a history of falling, including those with selected chronic conditions. Attendees will walk away with several program examples and templates. Numerous exercises will be taught and practiced during the session.
