Strength training has long been considered the go-to exercise for improving function in older adults, but evidence suggests that power training may provide additional advantages over strength training. This session will explore the evidence related to the functional benefits of strength and power training and will teach a number of exercises and techniques appropriate for older adults, including those with chronic health concerns. We’ll also explore programming variables such as sets, reps, speed and load.
