Shawn Fears enjoys proving that nothing is impossible. He has had shoulder surgery, three epidurals for a herniated disk and two knee surgeries. Despite these setbacks, he set a personal record of back-squatting 420 pounds. Shawn is a personal trainer, teaches at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, and is co-authoring a book for the International Youth Conditioning Association. Shawn is also involved with the Exercise is Medicine initiative and persuaded the governor of Alaska to declare May as Exercise is Medicine month. His advice to other fitness professionals is “Never stop learning—you will never know enough.”
