Fitness professionals can take advantage of a newly discovered fitness and health motivation as fitness facilities begin reopening after the pandemic. An online national survey sponsored by Orangetheory® Fitness and conducted in May 2021 found that a majority of Americans are motivated to make positive changes to their physical activity levels. The survey reports that 43% of respondents are planning to set and achieve new fitness goals. Almost one-third of Americans intend to exercise outside of the home more often, with some planning to return to a fitness studio or gym and others ready to join one for the first time.

These fitness and health motivation findings are based on a nationally representative sample of 1,005 Americans ages 18 or older and are available online at prn.to/3ibErwe.
