Recipe For Health: Raw Brownies
Valentine’s Day is often filled with decadent sweets and overall indulgence. With so many temptations around us, it can be easy to overindulge in the wrong kinds of foods and then feel bad about it. But this day of love wouldn’t seem complete without some chocolate!
Fitness professional Hayley Hobson, author of Hayley Hobson’s Hip Guide to Creating Your Sexy & Abundant Life (CreateSpace 2013), says she likes to feel she can eat the most lip-smacking sweets without feeling sick to her stomach, tired or guilty the next day. “I went on a mission to find the most scrumptious, delectable desserts that not only kicked my sweet tooth to the curb but actually made me feel sexy and alive. - 21⁄2 C Medjool dates (pitted, soaked in warm water for 5 minutes)
- 2 C raw walnuts
- 1⁄2 C unsweetened cacao
- 1⁄2 C unsweetened cacao nibs (optional, but highly recommended)
- 1 C raw almonds (chopped, and soaked overnight)
- 2 T chia seeds
- For sweeter brownies, add
1 T of agave nectar.
- pinch Himalayan crystal salt

In a food processor, blend walnuts until finely ground. Add cacao powder and salt; pulse to combine, then add dates individually until the mixture becomes “crumbly.”
Press the walnut/cacao mixture firmly into a 9- by 9-inch pan. Press the almonds, chia seeds and cacao nibs into the mixture. Freeze for at least 2 hours and then slice into 18 squares.
