The ground is thawing, and signs of spring are emerging. We’re in the home stretch with winter almost behind us! Longer days and fresh and seasonal eats are right around the corner. Despite this spring fever, recognize that we are still enjoying the fruits and veggies of the winter harvest from the warm-weather states and from local greenhouses. Add a few of these items to your shopping list this month and appreciate their limited seasonal window: artichokes, arugula, asparagus, avocados, beets, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, chives, collards, endive, garlic, grapefruit, guavas, kumquats, leeks, lemons, limes, mandarins, mint, onions, oranges, parsley, parsnips, potatoes, radishes, rhubarb, rutabaga, spinach, strawberries, tangerines, turnips and walnuts.
