Heat Is Becoming a Bigger Fitness Consideration

Record-breaking temperatures across many regions are changing how fitness professionals think about exercise programming. Heat affects cardiovascular strain, hydration needs, perceived exertion and recovery, making environmental conditions an increasingly important consideration for both indoor and outdoor training.
Rather than simply encouraging clients to “drink more water,” professionals are adapting workout schedules, monitoring environmental conditions and educating participants about recognizing early signs of heat-related illness. As extreme weather becomes more common, environmental awareness is becoming another component of safe exercise programming.
