Corrective Ex and Pumpkin Spice?

Curl up with a warm Autumn beverage of choice and settle into this newly created collection of IDEA's best corrective exercise content.

You might wonder how corrective ex and pumpkin spice got paired in this article’s headline.

This may explain it: That Fall snap is in the air, which can only mean one thing: We’re going to be inundated with pumpkin-spiced everything in a few short weeks! From actual pumpkins to specialty grocery items, recipes, beers, teas, lattes, air fresheners, etc., this stuff will be everywhere.

In the spirit of the season, I will get the bandwagon rolling early with this simple idea that will have you thinking you’re eating pumpkin pie for brekkie. Use your favorite cultured yogurt product in the mix, whether it be Greek style, skyr, oat or almond. And here’s another pro tip: Search our considerable stock on food and nutrition content for more recipes, timely research reports and, of course, CEC content to keep pace with your certification renewal process.

Now that I have that out of my system, here’s what I really wanted to share with you in this week’s note.

Corrective Ex: Less Pain, Better Movement

My longtime IDEA colleague Joy Keller recently put together this thought-provoking topic cluster on corrective exercise that will help you to guide clients on downgrading their pain and upgrading their movement. Grab a pumpkin-spiced latte and curl up with this terrific collection.

As Joy points out, “Pain is a common theme among a high percentage of clients and it often prevents them from reaching their goals. Fitness professionals know that corrective exercise is one strategy to help clients retain vibrant movement health and navigate life pain-free. As people aspire to return to their former levels of functional freedom, IDEA and its members stand ready to help them release restrictions and move with ease.”

If you’d rather attend a live webinar with one of our favorite corrective exercise experts, join Justin Price, creator of the BioMechanics Method, for his September 28 (10 a.m. PDT) program that explores the real causes of knee pain, and how integrating simple corrective exercise strategies can alleviate it, improve function and restore fun to your client’s workout. Registration is open and free for all IDEA members. Hope to see you there!

Finally, a quick reminder to save the date for our first 2023 event—IDEA Personal Trainer Institute in Alexandria, Virginia, March 912. Join us to learn from the top educators in the industry about being the best at what you do.

Until next time, thank you for the important work you do to enrich the lives of people everywhere. Keep inspiring and have a wonderful week!
