Smiles From the 2014 IDEA World Fitness Convention™

Wow. In a word, that’s how I feel. I’ve been an IDEA member for 15 years. IDEA World Fitness is always outstanding, but this year was different. There was something in the air, and the only thing I could boil it down to was the word happy! Everyone was happy, with smiling and friendly faces. They were talking, collaborating, interacting and sharing. These actions dominated this year’s event and gave me a renewed excitement that I haven’t felt in years. I sensed people coming together and (finally) realizing that the only way we’ll Inspire the World to Fitness® is by helping each other—not by competing with each other. Thank you for the amazing job you and your team did to make this year’s event happen. As always, well done!

The event was absolutely wonderful this year; everything seemed so smooth and seamless. IDEA has assembled a wonderful team. Kudos to everyone who makes this event happen year after year—it keeps getting better and better each time! Thanks for always inspiring!

Congratulations to IDEA and to everyone involved in making such a successful event. I thoroughly enjoyed myself both as a presenter and as a participant. The program was outstanding, the trade show was top-notch, and the overall energy was palpable. It’s not easy to continue to generate excitement and to maintain such a high level of professionalism and expertise year after year. As we say in France, “Bravo!”

I have made a career out of what was just “bouncing around” 38 years ago. A large part of my success is due to IDEA and to the educational backbone that it has provided for all of us fitness fanatics. Thank you again for another great convention.

IDEA World was an extraordinary event! Keynote speaker Diana Nyad was perfect, and your trade show had so much energy. You have created a unique place and time; there is nowhere on earth your attendees would rather be. Congratulations!

Erratum

In July–August Making News, we made an editing error in the story titled “Physical Activity Type in Midlife Affects Mobility in Seniors.” The affected sentence should have read “Subjects who engaged in vigorous OPA in midlife had more [not fewer] limitations than those whose OPA levels were light.” Since this information was linked to Quiz 1, question 3, of the July–August CEC test, test takers will receive a pass on that question. We regret the error.
