Quick, No-Cook Healthy Breakfast Ideas

Food for Thought

Myriad studies have shown that skipping breakfast is one of the worst ways to try to lose weight or maintain optimal health. But it can be a real challenge to find healthy breakfast fare that doesn’t need to be cooked and can be transported as you and the kids rush out the door each morning.

Here are a few fast but healthy breakfast suggestions from the editors at Consumer Reports on Health:

  • whole-grain frozen waffles topped with berries and nonfat ricotta cheese flavored with vanilla extract
  • peanut butter and sliced banana on whole-wheat toast
  • plain or sugar-free yogurt, with your own topping of fresh fruit and whole-grain cereal
  • smoked salmon on a whole-wheat bagel with a “schmear” of low-fat cream cheese and a slice of tomato
  • whole-wheat English muffin with a slice of pear and cheddar cheese
  • nonfat yogurt mixed with dried cranberries, low-fat granola and flax seeds
