Meet an IDEA Team Member!

Get to know our Executive Managing Editor of Publications, Kate Watson.

In a Word . . .

On the editorial team, Kate is a quick-change artist, continually switching among her roles as assigning editor, lead editor, copyeditor and proofer. She’s also our key liaison with the printer, making sure your magazines and event brochures hit the press on time.

For 7 or 8 years, Kate led a weekly meditation session for the IDEA team as part of the company’s wellness program. Katia Milanova, our internet marketing director, was a regular attendee: “Meditation can be hard for newbies; however, Kate’s step-by-step guided meditation made it easy for all levels. Kate helped us experience the connection between mind, body and spirit, which gave us a sense of well-being and happiness.”

What does she love about working for IDEA? “It’s continuously in a state of ‘becoming,’ which keeps things lively and fresh. I enjoy working with bright, creative, warm-hearted people and appreciate our cooperative team spirit. It’s fulfilling to know that our efforts benefit the thousands of fitness professionals we serve and, beyond them, the millions of clients and class participants who are striving to live healthy and active lives. I also love working with our wonderful authors and learning every day from the material I edit.”

Inside Scoop

Kate Watson

Kate’s exercise staples are Iyengar yoga, wilderness hiking and brisk walking in her hilly hometown of La Mesa, California.

Kate is a big fan of the Instant Pot! She has a full schedule, and pressure cooking makes it a breeze to cook wonderfully tasty and nutritious meals. Her latest attempt—curried parsnip soup topped with a dollop of yogurt, cilantro, lime juice and grated ginger—proved to be delicious.

While she has lived in the U.S. for decades, Kate grew up in the U.K. and still enjoys her British treats—marmalade at breakfast, a glass of sherry and a really good mystery series on PBS.
