Despite concerns over a faltering economy, business appears to be booming for health clubs, states the International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association (IHRSA) in its annual survey of U.S. health and sports club companies. According to the survey, average revenues increased by more than 18% in the third quarter of 2007.“This growth pattern has been observed during all three quarters in 2007, and we anticipate a positive outlook for the year end due to a historical increase in membership sales, which typically occurs late in the 4th quarter,” stated Katie Rollauer, IHRSA’s senior manager of research in a February 2008 press release.
