Michelle Alencar, PhD

Michelle Alencar, PhD, is an associate professor of fitness at California State University, Long Beach, and serves as the chief science officer for inHealth Medical Services, Inc. She is a certified clinical nutritionist and exercise physiologist with a passion for mobile health and its capability to provide nutrition, fitness and behavior modification strategies for health and wellness. Michelle was recognized in 2018 by the Obesity Medicine Association for her innovative research.

Jenna A. Bell, PhD, RD, is a senior vice president and the director of food and wellness at Pollock Communications. Marc Bubbs, ND, MSc, practices naturopathic medicine and is the director of nutrition for the Canadian Men’s National Basketball Team. He speaks frequently as a subject matter expert on many topics, and he hosts the Dr. Bubbs Performance Podcast, connecting listeners with world-leading experts in nutrition, training, health, recovery and mindset. Julia DiGangi, PhD, a brain and psychology expert, brings a unique perspective to wellness and performance. As the founder of NeuroHealth Partners, Dr. DiGangi leads trainings and develops curricula on the neuroscience of emotional, cognitive and social health. Using the latest advances in neuroscience and psychology, she focuses on practical, evidence-based strategies to achieve behavioral change that sticks. She has published extensively in scientific journals and has presented to thousands of people on health-related topics, including a recent TEDx Talk on stress and the brain.

Natalie Digate Muth, MD, MPH, RDN, FAAP

ACE Senior Advisor on Healthcare Solutions

Natalie Digate Muth is a board-certified pediatrician and obesity medicine physician, registered dietitian and health coach. She practices general pediatrics with a focus on healthy family routines, nutrition, physical activity and behavior change in North County, San Diego. She also serves as the senior adviser for healthcare solutions at the American Council on Exercise. Natalie is the author of five books and is committed to helping every child and family thrive. She is a strong advocate for systems and communities that support prevention and wellness across the lifespan, beginning at 9 months of age.

Lee Jordan, MS, is an ACE-certified health coach, behavior change specialist and personal trainer who focuses on lifestyle-based chronic disease prevention. As a subject-matter expert and educator for the American Council on Exercise, Jordan lives out his purpose: to equip a legion of passionate wellness professionals with the practical application competencies needed to transform lives.

Jessica Matthews, DBH, NBC-HWC

Assistant Professor and Program Director at Point Loma Nazarene University

Dr. Jessica Matthews, DBH, MS, is an assistant professor and program director at Point Loma Nazarene University where she developed and directs the online Master of Kinesiology in Integrative Wellness program. One of the first national board-certified health and wellness coaches in the country, Dr. Matthews serves as the director of integrative health coaching within the UC San Diego Centers for Integrative Health, leading the design and implementation of behavioral interventions within clinical lifestyle medicine research studies.

ACSM Exercise Physiologist and Owner of Three Jim White Fitness and Nutrition Studios

Jim White, RDN, is a nationally recognized dietitian, ACSM exercise physiologist, and owner of three Jim White Fitness and Nutrition Studios, three medical nutrition therapy practices and a workplace wellness corporation. He is widely quoted in popular media outlets, including the “Today” show, TLC, Radio Disney, GQ, Men’s Health, USA Today, and the Wall Street Journal, to name a few. He presents frequently, is a past spokesperson for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and consults for several well-recognized food and lifestyle brands.

What is the event registration cancellation policy?
If we receive your cancellation notice 30 days prior to an event, the administrative processing fee is $100. There will be no refunds allowed after that date or for no-shows. You can cancel anytime prior to the event and a credit will be issued that can be used toward a future IDEA event. Credits issued will expire on December 31 of the following calendar year.

We’ve made it easier to switch names on event registrations at no charge. If you can’t make it, you may send a colleague in your place by contacting Inspired Service at least 7 days prior to the event (switches are subject to a fee increase based on member status). Registration and all education sessions for the IDEA World Nutrition & Behavior Change Summit and the IDEA World Fitness & Nutrition Expo will take place at the Anaheim Convention Center, located at 1850 S West St, Anaheim, CA 92802. Choose one of our host hotels to be at the center of all the action! The Hilton Anaheim and Marriott Anaheim are just steps from all the IDEA World Convention has to offer. These hotels will be full with IDEA World Convention attendees and offer the full networking and immersive experience you’re looking for!

What should I bring?
Once on-site, you will want to make sure you have your registration confirmation, picture ID, a printed copy of your sessions, water (bring a bottle and refill it at the water stations), snacks, a sweatshirt (sometimes the rooms get a little cool, especially after some exercise), a yoga mat (for mind-body sessions), a notepad and a pen or pencil, business cards for networking, the conference brochure (if you want to change a session), and session handouts.

Will handouts be available for event sessions?
Session handouts will not be available at the event. Attendees should print the handouts they need. Session handouts will be available to print at least 2 weeks prior to the event. To print handouts, click on Session Handouts.

How do I get CPEUs/CECs for the sessions I attend?
Your proof of attendance and CPEU/CEC credits are on your CEC certificate, which you can access anytime after the conference at www.ideafit.com/myeducation.

Which certification agencies offer CECs for this event?
The credits you can earn at this event are recognized by the following agencies: ACE, ACSM, AFAA, BOC, NASM, NFPT, NSCA, W.I.T.S., The Cooper Institute, NETA, NESTA and NFPT. If your certification agency is not listed, simply check with the agency to see what credits it allows.

What is the minimum age for the IDEA World Nutrition & Behavior Change Summit attendees?
You need to be at least 18 years old to attend the IDEA World Nutrition & Behavior Change Summit. In response to attendee requests and to preserve the educational atmosphere of the convention, children under the age of 18 are not allowed in sessions, even to observe.

What is your policy on service animals?
If you require an Emotion Support Animal (ESA), please contact IDEA prior to arriving to the event. IDEA requires current documentation (not more than 1 year old) on letterhead from a licensed mental health professional stating (1) the attendee has a mental health-related disability listed in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM IV); (2) having the animal accompany the attendee is necessary to the attendee’s mental health or treatment; (3) the individual providing the assessment of the attendee is a licensed mental health professional, and the attendee is under his/her professional care; and (4) the date and type of the mental health professional’s license and the state or other jurisdiction in which it was issued. This documentation may be required as a condition of permitting ESA’s to accompany attendees. Under the Americans With Disabilities Act, ESA’s are not given the same rights and exemptions as Service Animals, and approval of ESA’s in public areas and businesses are at the discretion of those entities. If prior approval is not given by IDEA, attendees will be asked to remove the ESA from the event.
