WORKSHOP

10:00am–5:00pm (1-hour lunch is on your own) Fabio Comana, MA, MS

Coaching proper movement throughout the kinetic chain is fundamental to every professional, yet chronic injury rates continue to rise, increasing by 4% over the past decade. Learn the roles of stability and mobility in promoting proper movement and how their integrated function provides a foundation to all exercises. Join this workshop for a movement update based on the latest research and cover the biomechanical explanations on WHY exercise techniques on various exercises have been revised. Learn how to properly coach movement patterns of the upper extremity (push, pull, rotational/spiral patterns) and lower extremity (bend-and-lift, single-leg patterns). By applying the concepts and practices introduced in this preconference workshop, you’ll walk away with an understanding of the applications and with tools to help your clients move more functionally, feel better and reduce their risk of injury.

In this preconference workshop, you will learn how to:

  1. Describe the roles of stability and mobility throughout the entire kinetic chain
  2. Explain how movement dysfunction occurs when either stability or mobility is lacking
  3. Identify common movement dysfunctions often witnessed in various exercises
  4. Discuss proper exercise technique to promote movement efficiency
