Room Monitor
Room Monitors are required to report to sessions 30 minutes prior to the session start time, assess the needs of the session (check for equipment, A/V, and the needs of the session presenter). Room Monitors greet attendees as they enter the session, checking required wristband and schedule, plus keep a count of the number of attendees as they enter the room. Room monitors will be responsible for managing the Stand-By Line outside the session room for attendees not scheduled for the session as well as any Assistant wanting to attend. Pre/Post Event Intensive Room Monitors are required to work prior to the opening of an event or after the event has ended. Hours MUST be flexible.
Registration
Registration Assistants are the first contact an attendee will have at the event. Registration Assistants will check-in attendees, exhibitors, expo guests and VIP's as they arrive at the event. Registration Assistants will be responsible for handing out event schedules, materials, instructions and directions. Registration Assistants must be able to focus on individualized customer service, as well as be efficient in moving the process along to avoid excessive line back-ups.
Expo Hall Operations
Expo Hall Operations will assist IDEA staff with the retail sales of IDEA products and be able to assist attendees with questions regarding IDEA FitnessConnect. Training will be provided for each task. Expo Hall Operations Assistants will also help monitor noise levels and respond to complaints throughout the exhibit hall floor.
Event Operations
Event Operations Assistants will be responsible for moving session equipment and clearing rooms of equipment at the conclusion of sessions. This position can be labor intensive and Operations Assistants must be capable of lifting 25 lbs. Event Operations Assistants must be flexible to work in other areas as needed during the event including Registration, Room Monitoring, Expo Hall Operations, or the IDEA Store.
Set-Up
Set-Up Assistants will help IDEA staff get the event space prepared for opening. This may be in Operations (inflating and unboxing session equipment), Registration (collating attendee packets) and/or the IDEA Store (displaying product for sale).
In-House
In-House Assistants job are to help San Diego IDEA staff at the Home Office prior to the event. This may be in any department performing such duties as clerical work, teaching fitness classes, or helping with special projects that can be done at home and then turned into the IDEA staff person in charge of the project. If total hours are not fulfilled in the Home Office prior to an event, you will need to work additional hours at the event.
