There is hardly anything more intimate or impactful we do for our own bodies and those of our loved ones than preparing and eating (or serving) healthful food. Not only do we put food inside our mouths, but what we eat becomes part of our cellular structure. It has infinite potential to build strong, resilient bodies.

Besides being integral to this communion of physically nourishing ourselves and those we love, food plays a critical role in social interaction and in treasured cultural, family and religious traditions. Breaking bread together helps us to tell our stories, find connection and learn from one another.

As we enter the most foodcentric season of all, we hope the features section in this issue sparks new perspective on two fascinating nutrition topics. The first feature dives deep into how the pandemic has changed the ways people eat and the resulting fallout. Many have struggled mightily with food-related issues in the face of added stress and disruptions to daily routines. Professor Sanna Delmonico, MS, RDN, of The Culinary Institute of America provides eye-opening statistics, solid science and practical strategies for helping people rediscover homeostasis. The second feature is the most in-depth piece we’ve ever produced on how to differentiate among food allergies, intolerances and sensitivities. Both CEC features are superb reads and are jam-packed with resources.

IDEA® Personal Trainer Institute Is Back Live in 2022

2020 IDEA Personal Trainer Institute was the last time we saw many of you at a “live” event. We are thrilled to announce that for the first time in 2 years, this conference will return to Alexandria, Virginia, February 24–27, 2022.

We hope the event brochure that arrived with your magazine gets you revved up to learn, network and enjoy the company of like-minded personal trainers, health coaches and business owners. The brightest minds in the industry will be there to share everything they know about top-level program design for all people, behavior modification plans that work, how to get noticed in a crowded marketplace, virtual strategies and much more.
