Chan Gannaway launched his fitness career more than 24 years ago, in 1996. Initially, he worked primarily in health clubs as a personal trainer, head trainer, regional director and educator, but he always found time to teach his passionate hobby, indoor cycling, and still does today. In 2011, he threw himself into the fitness franchise world as the first corporate fitness and education director for Orangetheory® Fitness, then based out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He held this position until 2016, then stayed with the company another 2 years as a regional manager and minority studio owner, after a move to Orlando to be closer to his kids. His 8-year OTF career took him to 28 states, three countries and hundreds of studios, as he was responsible for educating and certifying fitness coaches at new locations that were about to open. Most recently, from December 2018 through March 2020, Gannaway was the fitness and education director for GRIT BXNG, based out of New York City. He developed the company’s boutique fitness concept, built the manual and curriculum, and certified the founding GRIT trainers. His responsibilities included designing workouts for each day and consulting with the technology team to develop their visual aid screens in workout areas. Since 2001, apart from a few years spent in management, Gannaway has been an approved education provider for NASM and ACE. He launched the first approved education content in OTF history in 2013.
