Becoming a Certified Feldenkrais Teacher
The Feldenkrais Method® of Somatic Education, developed by Moshe Feldenkrais (1904-1984), continues to grow in popularity. The purpose of Feldenkrais training is to improve movement and enhance functionality. The two main programs consist of group classes known as Awareness Through Movement® and private sessions referred to as Functional Integration®. In the group classes, an instructor leads students through a sequence of slow, gentle movements in a variety of positions: sitting or lying on the floor; and standing or sitting in a chair. In private sessions, the student performs a variety of movements tailored to his or her needs while the trainer offers guidance and tactile feedback.
Professional teacher training to become a certified Feldenkrais® practitioner requires 780-800 hours of training and typically takes 3-4 years. For more information, go to www.feldenkrais.com.
