while yoga may not be in the ‘feel the burn’ category it certainly can have a place in a weight loss program. Depending on the style of yoga, it can be very demanding and cause you to expend energy during the yoga sessions. The muscle you would build during such a yoga session will help raise your metabolic rate.
But even if you go for a more restorative version of yoga, there can still be benefits in the stress-reducing qualities. One of the greatest obstacles in weight management is to deal with stress-eating. Any modality that can teach strategies to deal with stress will be an asset here.
I would not rely on yoga alone for the exercise part of a weight loss program but I believe that it can have a part in it.
