Would appreciate advice on Idea World
I am considering attending Idea World this August. The last IDEA event i attended was a personal training convention in 1994 (and I still have the t shirt). I just wondered if anyone had any suggestions or feedback. I usually save my training dollars to go to a yoga ashram, but it is always good to keep things fresh. Thanks for any thoughts.
Hi Ariadne,
having attended all but one IDEA World conferences since 1995, I like to think that I am in a good position to give you feedback based on my experiences. Of course, I am coming at it from a different starting point, being much more of a generalist in the fitness field.
What I love about the IDEA conferences (and IDEA World in particular) is the wide variety of subjects with the absolutely best presenters in the industry. You can study horizontally, learning a little about a lot, or vertically, focusing on a few subjects. This exposure has enabled me to take from many sources what works for me and make it into my own way of training.
I know that your background is yoga, and there is usually not a lot of it at IDA World. But more and more sessions now are dedicated to the training with consideration to fascia, and I know from some textbooks that I am using that the connective tissue lines identified my Thomas Myers in ‘Anatomy Trains’ can be traced in yoga poses. I think you would find this correlation interesting.
And on a very personal level: I would love to meet you in person.
