I am working with a mortgage company in a building that has other companies in the same building. The area of the building is where there are a lot of large companies are located as well. Currently we are outside working out until it gets colder. There is a building that holds a school and a few other companies and I learned there is a fitness center and raquetball court in the building. I was thinking about talking to the property management to see if I could run classes out it to the companies with in the building and to compines in the nearby buildings. I also thought it would be fun to have company to company challanges. IT would fun to get sponsors for winners. Not sure how to do that either. Advice?
Your personal trainer insurance company may have some options for you. I have trained, and lead classes at worksites and my insurance covered my liability at the site. Also, typically most companies – “the management property company” has liability insurance. Yes, you need to see them, and first you want to check with your insurance. Also, have everyone that participates sign a waiver.
Hopefully I can help you shed some light on what you can do here.
First off, Do you have your own company? Or is this a “side” thing that you do? Talking to property management is definitely the first step. You may want to think of the following questions.
– Would you need to pay rent/commission to the management company?
– Do you have insurance? People working out creates a liability.
Having the company competitions is a great idea. I do something similar and talking to the HR person (GM if company had no HR department) at the different companies was the best way in gaining them. If this is something that takes off for you and you have a competition day where different companies will be there, then getting local sponsors will be easy. Just go introduce yourself and explain what you are doing, offer them to come set up a table for them to advertise their company, and in return they donate X for a prize.
Best of luck with it.
