I find it sells very well in this economy. People who can’t afford or don’t want to pay for my personal training rates will come to my small-group classes. I price my small-group so that I make the same rate for an hour of personal training if I have 4 clients in small-group. I can take more than 4 class (6 ideally, 8 is pushing it for the attention I like to give) so I can make 150% to 200% of my personal training rate.
It’s also a good way to get people who’ve never paid for any kind of classes into a paid class, and then they eventually move into personal training. That’s how I get the bulk of my training clients. I advertise my small-group classes in my big-group classes and then my small-group clients ask me for one on one time.
