why small group trainin?
Small groups have gotten more attention, as of late, because of the potential paycheck but their are a vast number of benefits that often get overlooked.
1) Usually more $/hr
2) When the group seperates, you often keep some as idividual clients or couples
3) More people = more word of mouth advertising
4) Competition breeds enthusiasm (aka. accountability)
5) Group = support system
6) I’ve had some groups turn into large classes (normally yoga and boxing)
7) Rarely does EVERYONE have a bad day together
8) When they are ready, you can encourage them to enter events as a team
9) Groups challenge you program design abilities, making you more diverse
x) A group that loves you can lift you up so high
Could be a great way to capture more clients on so many levels. If you think you’ll like it, do it, you’ll love it!
I find it sells very well in this economy. People who can’t afford or don’t want to pay for my personal training rates will come to my small-group classes. I price my small-group so that I make the same rate for an hour of personal training if I have 4 clients in small-group. I can take more than 4 class (6 ideally, 8 is pushing it for the attention I like to give) so I can make 150% to 200% of my personal training rate.
It’s also a good way to get people who’ve never paid for any kind of classes into a paid class, and then they eventually move into personal training. That’s how I get the bulk of my training clients. I advertise my small-group classes in my big-group classes and then my small-group clients ask me for one on one time.
Good question. Small group training is perfect for earning more/hr and at the same time make it more affordable for the client. I don’t know if the economy plays that much of a role because it depends on the type of client you are looking to train. If you can justify the rates you are charging, then finding the right client won’t be that hard. I personally like to train groups of 3-5 people, only because I can make more per hour. Also, people might be more willing to start training if they have a friend with them or being part of a group.
