It is critical to consider the supplements we use, if they are not properly digested they can actually do more harm then good.
Food alone does not provide the minerals and vitamins necessary for recovery. Make sure you get the highest quality products to take care of the machine that is your body.
I do not personally use supplements, but try to use good nutrition. I do know people who use either supplements or vitamins, which I see as their choice, though when asked for my opinion it is to eat balanced first, then make sure to do research, not by paying attention to ads, but by actually looking at real research from well regarded peer reviewed journals, and if one is going to do supplements to speak to a trained certified dietitian or nutritionist in private practice who does not make any money by selling supplements.
Without being a trained certified nutritionist myself I consider selling or recommending them to anyone else to be outside my scope of practice.
I really don’t use supplements nor do I recommend them to my clients. As Ariadne said, it’s out of the scope of practice for Trainers. Besides, there are too many horror stories out there about people suffering terrible side effects from using supplements – it’s simply not worth it. Most supplements aren’t supported by any credible research anyway. I’ve been relying on good old sensible nutrition & it’s been working just fine for my clients and me for years.
But to answer your question, the only supplements I ever used were protein powders (bodybuilding days in the ’80’s!), & a multi-vitamin – that’s really about it. But my question to you is – Why did you answer your own question on this thread?
