Where can I register to apply to demonstrate a group ex fitness idea at an event please?
And there are many other expos and fitness fairs all over the country. All of the ones that I have done presentations at did require an application and submission of material being presented. This included the ones that asked and paid me to present material. It must be some type of legal formality.
And some required me to provide some form of handout for the presentations. Most paid for the printing, but a couple were not able to pay for this. None of the ones that I wasn’t ask to present at paid for printing of materials. But it was worth it for the exposure for my programs.
If you have not done any presentations, I do recommend that you practice several times in front of friends and family. Try to find a fitness fair in your area. These events are pretty popular in most fair sized cities. Rec Centers hold them alot as well. You could also try to get a few of your local fitness centers to allow you to present this to their staff. The first few times you speak in front of peers are great learning experiences. Prepare by practicing in front of a mirror and time out how long it takes you to do your presentation. A number the expos I have presented at were big on keeping to their schedule, which is important as they usually have many presenters using the same space/room at these events. And practice using a mic if you haven’t yet. I own an over the head mic and a lapel wireless mic system that works with most PA systems. Having to hold a mic is a pain and it inhibits my animated style of presenting.
Be confident and positive. Good luck.
It sounds as though you have been teaching a long time, but you don’t say whether you have done any teacher trainings/presentations. If you haven’t presented before you might want to look into some regional or local venues first.
I have developed and presented a little on a local level. Because of my work and family situation I decided not to try to take that farther, but what I found is that developing a workshop or being part of a demo team takes a lot of work. Starting in a smaller market allows you to refine what you are offering before trying it on the big stage. It is kind of like getting a show to Broadway…. Do it in front of a smaller group, get feedback, and get positive reviews to help promote future work.
Good luck,
