Hi Nikhil,
I would recommend real, whole, foods as a source of energy
both before and after your workouts! You may want to consult
a Registered Dietician to find out what is best for you (you need protein,
carbohydrates, and healthy fats), but I would stay away from
energy supplements and eat real food.

I'm not a fan of energy supplements. I personally just have a cup of black coffee 20-30 minutes before my workout and it does the trick for me (it's also a cheaper).

Hi Nikhil,
I'm with Christine & Harris on this - I'm not a fan of them. First of all, I don't trust them - who knows what's really in them. I don't train as early as you do (I'm training others!) but when I did train at 6:15 AM or so, a cup of tea or coffee always did the job just fine - wired me right up.

Also not in favor of energy supplements. The small amount of caffeine in coffee or tea can be an ergogenic aid, and unless you have a medical condition or are on medication that would make it bad for you to have caffeine can be an option if you need to work out early and find it difficult. Getting a good night's sleep is also helpful.
