When is someone is performing a diagonal lunge, what two primary muscles are recruited and accessory to stabilize?

If this is really your question, you might want to take a lesson in semantics. The lunge, as I’m sure you know, is primarily a quad strengthening exercise. If done correctly, the gluts and hamstrings are important stabilizing muscle groups, as well as all of the internal and external rotators. The leading foot needs to be flat and the push-off comes from the heel, not the toes.
Take care.
